Word is that 23-year old Simona Halep is disappointed with her play so far this year. Simona has reached that elite status where Grand Slam events determine her sense of success. Until she wins one, her play will be rate her as an “also ran.”
The 2015 French Open offers a good chance to break the ice. A finalist here last year, Simona comes in with a 29-6 record this season and has earned more than $2 million. How disappointing can that be? With 5 French opens under her belt, Halep will not be awed but she does have a tendency to start slow in big events.
26-year old Russian Evgeniya Rodina seems the perfect first round opponent for Halep. With a 3-7 2015 record, Rodina should be the perfect appetizer for what Halep expects to be a long run in Paris. Rodina does not have enough game to cause Simona a problem. Looks like a straight set win here.
