Next Sunday, 24th of May 2015, Louis Van Gaal’s super inconsistent Manchester United will measure forces with Hull City at The KC Stadium for the last round of the English Premier League.

Will United be able to end the season in style?

After a narrow win at Selhurst Park two weeks ago, Manchester United failed once again to secure the three points when they hosted Arsenal at Old Trafford last Sunday. The Red Devils opened the score during the first-half thanks to an excellent goal from the Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera after a quality cross by Ashley Young. United were by far the best team during the first forty-five minutes but things changed after the break. Arsene Wenger rallied his troops at half-time and the Gunners were a completely different team during the second part of the match. After missing several chances, mostly because of David de Gea’s quality performance, especially when he denied Olivier Giroud the equalizer just before minute 70’, Arsenal ended up grabbing the equalizer, thanks to an own goal by Blackett. The Spanish goalie was, nevertheless, forced to abandon the match a few minutes later due to injury and was replaced by his fellow countryman, the debutant Victor Valdes.

United put up a poor performance during the second-half and such unconvincing display almost cost them another painful home defeat.

Next weekend’s match against Hull will not change much of United’s current situation at the league table, since, in order to grant the third place, they need Arsenal to lose both matches the London team still havel to play and it is not very likely that will happen.

As for Hull City, the clash against Manchester United is of capital importance for them as, if they manage to win the match, they might still have a chance to play in the English football top tier next season.

The Tigers season has been an absolute rollercoaster and they are currently on a very poor streak with three consecutive defeats on their last five matches. After beating Crystal Palace and Liverpool late last month, Hull embarked on a very negative streak of results that could cost them a place among the big dogs of English football next term.
