Everton, after having a brilliant campaign, will be heartbroken to have come so close to getting into the top 4. But their loss against Southampton, following a bizarre 2 own goals, meant that they practically shot themselves in the foot. With a 4 point gap between themselves and Arsenal, it has to be said that the odds are stacked against them. The best they can hope for is to win their next two games and Arsenal somehow loses their remaining 2. But playing against a Manchester City side that is fighting for the title would mean that it won’t be an easy game.

Everton vs Man City
Can Manchester City take all 3 points against Everton?

After Liverpool’s to Chelsea, the title is right back in the hands of Manchester City, who need to win all their remaining games to keep the Premier League trophy in Manchester. City still have a game in hand and they are only 3 points behind Liverpool. So, they will need to make sure that they take the advantage handed to them by Chelsea’s win at Anfield. After what has been a largely unsuccessful campaign, a league win would certainly make things right for Manuel Pellegrini. After all, all that beautiful and attacking football that the fans and neutrals enjoyed certainly deserves a trophy.

With a long campaign coming to an end, both teams will want to finish on a high. While it may seem all is lost for Everton, this season has shown that anything is possible in the league. So, they would want to finish the season on a high, and hope things go their way. Also, they would certainly want to have a say in who ends up the league champion, so they will certainly be up for this match. And City, knowing that the title is theirs to loose, would be extra motivated to take advantage over a team that would be disappointed about a lost chance to make it to the Top 4.

Injuries

Everton are still struggling with injuries, with as many as 9 on the physio’s table. However, Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka are set to return this weekend to play against City. Kone, Gibson and Pienaar are out for a little more time, expected to be back on the 11th. Mirallas, Distin, Traore and Oviedo are all out long term.

Manchester City have lost David Silva and Jesus Navas who join Nastasic on the injury list, with no return date set for all 3 of them. While City may not miss Navas so much, they could certainly have used Silva’s skills for the run-in.
