Team Australia grabbed second spot in Pool A of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, as they won four games out of six, lost one and the other ended without a ball being bowled. They achieved nine points with a net run rate of +2.257 and are placed below New Zealand who defeated them in the 20th match by a narrow margin of one wicket. Pakistan started off badly in the event as they surrendered their opening two games against India and West Indies but came back strongly while beating Zimbabwe, United Arab Emirates, a strong unit of South Africa and Ireland. The Green Shirts are placed third in Pool B with eight points at a net rune rate of -0.085 and will face the Kangaroos in the 3rd Quarter-Final which might tilt towards the hosts.
The formidable batting line up of Australia comprises David Warner, Glenn Maxwell, Steven Smith, Aaron Finch, Michael Clarke and Shane Watson. Mitchell Starc is the highest wicket taker in the tournament so far with 16 and rest of their bowling is being looked after by Mitchell Johnson, Pat Cummins, Watson, Maxwell and James Faulkner.
Sarfraz Ahmed powered unbeaten 101 vs. Ireland in the previous match while Ahmed Shehzad and Misbah-ul-Haq contributed 63 and 39. Haris Sohail, Umar Akmal and Sohaib Maqsood can play useful innings whereas Shahid Afridi is a fine all-rounder. Wahab Riaz and Sohail Khan are their top wicket takers with 14 and 11 and they hope that Mohammad Irfan will be fit for the important match while Rahat Ali and Haris Sohail will provide them valid assistance.
