Bayern Munich have been in scintillating form of late, scoring 24 goals in their last 6 matches. Their most recent win over Borussia Dortmund was the pick of the bunch as despite going 1-0 down to their bitter rivals, Robert Lewandowski’s introduction in the second half saw him score 5 goals in the space of 9 minutes which stunned world football and set numerous records. The Polish international scored another 3 goals whilst on international duty including the winner over Republic of Ireland which sealed Poland’s qualification into Euro 2016.

Unlike Lewandowski, confidence might not be so high for his Munich colleagues who struggled hugely for their country. Germany lost to Republic of Ireland 1-0 before labouring to a 2-1 home win over Georgia to win the group in unconvincing fashion. The 2014 World Cup winners boast a number of Bayern Munich players and they’ll need to perform to a much higher standard should they wish to extend their 8 game winning run in the Bundesliga this season.

Werder Bremen are in a serious slump at the moment having lost 4 straight games which has increased the pressure on Viktor Skripnik. Skripnik’s luck doesn’t get any easier with a visit from Bayern Munich and you’d forgive him for watching the game through one eye as it’s typically a match in which Munich are very destructive. Munich have won the last 10 meetings and are unbeaten in the last 15 in all competitions. The last 5 occasions these two have met has been particularly one sided with an aggregate score of 28-3 in Munich’s favour and that aggregate score is just 1 goal shy of Pep Guardiola’s side goal ratio in the league, scoring 28 and conceding 4.

Bayern Munich are overwhelming favourites to continue their good form and given their dominance against Bremen and the brilliance of Lewandowski of late, you’d expect Munich to fill their boots. Only a hangover of Munich’s German internationals that weren’t quite at the races could give them a glimmer of hope.

One of the German internationals will be missing as Mario Gotze suffered a groin injury that is believed to keep him out of action for the next 10-12 weeks which will be a loss for Guardiola. Gotze joins a long list of Bayern players out with Sebastian Rode, Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, Medhi Benatia and Holger Badstuber also injured. Philipp Bargfrede returns from suspension for the hosts after a 3 match suspension for his red card against Ingolstadt but Aron Johannsson faces some time watching from the stands with a hip injury.
