Will Bayern return to wins against Dortmund?

Pep Guardiola’s highly efficient Bayern was surprised at home in the previous round of the Bundesliga by a mighty and superbly organized Borussia Moenchengladbach. The visitors won the match by 2-0 with two goals from the versatile Brazilian forward Raffael, who proved to be a true headache for Bayern’s defence line during the entire clash. Bayern enjoyed, as usual, from more ball possession percentage and had fairly more chances to score, but ended up by being surprised during Borussia Moenchengladbach’s quick counter-attacks. It was the second defeat of the season for Bayern and a blatant proof that there isn’t such a thing as unbeatable teams in football these days.

The Bavarian team has been once again flooded with injuries and such fact might bring some instability to the current Bundesliga’s champions. Early today, Pep Guardiola came to realise that the versatile Austrian defender David Alaba will be out for seven weeks due to a torn ligaments’ injury on his left knee.

The upcoming match at Dortmund will certainly not be easy for Bayern, regardless of the less impressive moment their once big rivals are currently going through.

As for Dortmund, the former European champions have been having a season to forget so far and despite of their recent improvements, they are still underachieving. After a serie of three matches without wins, Dortmund managed to clinch once again the three points on their visit to Hannover two weeks ago. It was, nevertheless, a very complicated win, but the art of Kagawa and Aubameyang proved to be enough for them to seal a 3-2 win.

The upcoming clash against the Bundesliga’s champions and their usual title contestants, Bayern Munich, will be a very demanding test for Jürgen Klopp’s men, who are still struggling to be get back on track.

Despite the recent improvements, it is not very likely that Dortmund manage to upset the all-powerful Bayern, who will certainly try to avenge the defeat they suffered last round at the hands of Borussia Moenchengladbach by making a strong comeback in next Saturday’s match.
