Despite a 4-0 record against Estonia's Kanepi, this is probably not the first round match second seeded Sharapova preferred. Kanepi is a four time winner on the tour and at 5'11" can spank the serve. Yet, after reaching the 4th round at the US Open last year, her play has deteriorated. With two titles in 2015 including a clay court win in Rome and a favorable draw in Paris, the defending champion has visions of a repeat. Maria was runner-up in Australia and usually performs well at venues she has had success in the past.
